01 Activation / Pigeonhole

Brand Camapign, 2022
Supervised by Matthew Walker

A proposed campaign for 'Pigeonhole', a fictional children's arts and crafts brand that aims to intervene in the younger years and stop the gendering and stereotyping associated with colours. Campaign applications include two short animations, public installations of statues at playgrounds to be designed by local schools, and a poster series. The classic pink for girls and blue for boys inspired this project, and through primary research, finding out what other masculine or feminine connotations people have with other colours and flipping them on their head in this brand. The name 'Pigeonhole' plays off of stereotypes and restricting someone or something to one thing. The brand and its products aim to encourage children to switch these ideas up and get creative, just like the pigeon mascot does across the various outcomes.
